Are you an Australian company?
Therma-shade is a family run business, owned and operated by Australians. Our manufacturing facility is located offshore as production costs in Australia would make the product unaffordable.
Is it fireproof?
Definitely. This was very high on our list of requirements when developing this product.
Does it rot? Does it fade?
No. Unlike natural reed material, Thermashade will not rot, mould, fade or shed.
Does this meet my budget?
Completed huts start from under $2000.
Is it easy to install? Can I install it myself?
Yes. All huts come in DIY kit form with detailed instructions. No special skills or tools are required.
Do you install?
Our focus is on product development not installation, however if you don't have time to install yourself, we can put you in contact with reliable contractors who can complete installation.
Is it windproof?
Yes. Therma-shade can withstand up to 200 kmh cyclonic winds and has a zero wind rating (unlike Colorbond or fibreglass roof sheeting).
How big are they?
Sizes have been developed around the needs of the Australian consumer and are currently available in three popular sizes. Please see our dimensions page for further information.
Do you deliver?
Yes, delivery can be arranged Australia wide.
Life expectancy?
Therma-shade thatching tiles have been developed for a life-time of usage. Written 10 year warranty, with a life expectancy 20+ years.
How do I get one?
Please see our contact us page.
How does Therma-shade compare on price to other types of thatching?
Thermashade is around 20% more expensive than natural Cape Reed thatch and 20% cheaper than Balinese natural thatch, but with a life span of 3 or 4 times that of natural thatch and the resistance to fading after years in the QLD sun it is economically the most sensible choice.
